How do I know if I need a roof?

Their are many things to look for before replacing your roofing system. Curled or buckled shingles may be one of these reasons. Caused by aging or improper venting. While it is important to vent your roofing system, you do not want to add to much ventilation. As the cooler air may enter your soffit, heat should escape out your upper venting system. Another reason may be that your roofing system may be deteriorated so that water may penetrate into your home.

Can my roof stains be removed?

Roof stains can be removed in most cases. A special chemical can be used to remove the stains. It is not recommended homeowners to do this on their own. The products used to remove the stains causes the roofing system to become very slippery. Without the proper saftey equipment you should hire a pro.

How often should I have my roofing or gutter system checked?

In the spring and the fall is the best time to have your roofing and gutter systen checked for potential problems. The most common problem is your metial flashings in your roof and gutter system. They may require painting to keep from rusting. If you see rust, you will have problems. This is just important as your roof and gutters.

I have a lot of grit at my down spouts. Is this a problem?

Unless your roofing system was just installed, then yes. It may be time to have your roofing system replaced. Finding grit at your downspouts is a sure sign your roofing system is breaking down and may need replaced soon. When a new roofing system is installed, you will find grit at your downspout after a few rains. The rain will wash the loose grit from the new roofing system. After a few rains, this will stop. This is typical for a new roofing system but is usually cleaned after it is installed.
